Corinne Griffith/The Garden of Eden [1928] Tribute

2009/05/21

The Garden of Eden, a charming but obscure silent comedy directed by Lewis Milestone (All Quiet on the Western Front, Ocean’s Eleven) and starring Corinne Griffith, a once-popular and now nearly-forgotten star of silent cinema.

She plays a would-be opera singer who winds up working in a burlesque house. But she gets a break when she goes on vacation with the company’s costume designer, who turns out to be a baroness. And, of course, she falls in love with a cad who turns out to be a swell guy after all.

My comment: the main character is very funny, shows a liberated kind of woman of 20`s

The Brox Sisters

2009/05/20

From Wiki:

The Brox Sisters was a American trio of singing sisters, enjoying their greatest popularity in the 1920s and early 1930s. The members were Bobbe (born Dagmar in 1900, died 2 May 1999 age 98), Lorayne (11 November 1900 – 14 June, 1993) and Patricia (born Kathleen, 14 June 1903 – 1988). The family name was “Brock”; changed to “Brox” for theater marquees.

The Brox Sisters tune their radio, c. mid 1920s. Left to right: Patricia, Bobbe, Loryane.

They grew up in Tennessee and performed with Southern accents.

Their career began touring on Vaudeville in the United States and Canada in the 1910s. They hit it big on Broadway at the start of the 1920s. They moved to Los Angeles in the late 1920s. The act broke up in the early 1930s as the sisters got married; they made their last professional reunion appearance on radio in 1939.

From me:

The all married together? Same year? No solos appearences?

What a shame gramma!
